Who we are

Last updated:

SEEC is an independent information portal about gambling harm support and helplines for students and young adults. We help you understand the warning signs of problem gambling, explore the tools available to take control, and find the right support when you need it.

What this site covers

We write about gambling harm—what it looks like, how it develops and what you can do about it. The guides here answer the questions people most often search for: how to recognise when gambling is becoming a problem, what a deposit limit actually does, how self-exclusion works, where to find counselling, and how to rebuild your finances after gambling losses.

You'll find practical information on the tools that let you set boundaries—deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion through GamStop—and clear explanations of what each one stops and how long it lasts. We also cover the support available to you right now: where to get help for gambling problems and how gambling helplines work.

Who this is for

You might be here because you're worried about your own gambling, or because someone close to you is struggling. You might be looking for a way to cut back, or you might be in crisis and need help today. This site is for anyone in the UK aged 18 and over who wants to understand gambling harm and find a way forward.

Students and young adults often face particular pressures—study stress, social pressure, easy access to online gambling—and the harm can feel isolating. We write without judgement, because reaching out for information is already a step in the right direction.

How we build these guides

Every guide starts with what people actually search for and the questions they're asking. We check the information against public sources—the resources run by GamCare, BeGambleAware and Gordon Moody, the Gambling Commission's rules, and the evidence on what works.

We write in plain language, explain specialist terms when we use them, and update the guides when something changes. What matters to us is that you can understand it quickly and use it today.

What we don't do

We don't give personal advice. We don't sell anything—no goods, no services, no memberships. We don't rank support services or tell you which one is best for you; that depends on your situation and what feels right.

We're independent and not affiliated with any gambling site, operator or bookmaker. Our role is to help you find information and support, not to promote anything.

Get in touch
